DESIRON debuted in 1997 with three metal tables at a flea market on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. At the time, founder Frank Carfaro was an Analyst at Dun & Bradstreet, moonlighting as a furniture designer on the side. When his pieces sold out three weeks in a row, he started taking custom orders, and a business was born. Frank quit his job later that year, and rented a small storefront on 22nd Street that became the first DESIRON shop.
Flash forward two decades and DESIRON has grown into a premiere American maker of hand-crafted custom furniture, with a 4,000 square-foot showroom in the New York Design Center. The collection is made locally in the company’s factory, just 20 miles outside of Manhattan, using the finest, sustainable FSC hardwoods, and premium recycled metals.
DESIRON partners and collaborates with like-minded creative makers including Roll & Hill and Cerno lighting, Calico wallpaper, and Siemon & Salazar glassworks.
Clients include MoMA, Laura Mercier, American Express, the Setai Group, Four Seasons, W Hotels, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
DESIRON products are regularly featured in publications including The New York Times, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, Dwell, and House Beautiful, as well as in numerous television and film productions.
